It depends on how serious the hemorrhoids are.
Essentially one can get internal piles (inside the anus) or external piles (that protrude from the anus) The latter can become nipped by the anal muscles and be very painful.
I had internal piles and my GP recommended Prep H and they did do a lot of good. The piles cleared up of their own accord, although there is still a bit of weak skin that causes pain if I have to pass a particularly hard stool.
Have your hems looked at by a Doctor of Medicine – they’ve seen everything, so you don’t need to be embarrassed. Your Doc will recommend the best treatment.

No, as stated by other responders, it only relieves symptoms. If you want to try something, increase your fiber intake; try Metamucil or something. If you get on a regular regimen with it, it can eliminate the symptoms altogether. Short of surgery, there is nothing you can do to make them go away, but an increase in fiber can really decrease the flare ups

the main ingredients in hemorr. creams and pads like prep h is cortisone and witch hazel. if it is really bothering you take a hot bath and soak them. you can buy plain witch hazel at the drugstore and sometimes it helps to use it in its concentrated form. soaking them (hot bath) is what my husbands dr tells him to do. make sure you are getting enough fiber in your diet daily or it will really aggravate them. if you aren’t get a fiber pill to eat daily. if they are not feeling better in 3 days with the hot baths you will need to go to the dr and have them dealt with. they usually only require surgery if they are larger than a grape. my husband had the surgery where he had them banded off and just last week they opted not to band them off again but to lance them and let them drain. they are just filled with blood. gross i know but the 2 surgeries are fairly painful and very expensive. make sure that you are not lifting anything heavy or this will aggravate them. good luck and i really hope you feel better

try this simple step to cure your hemorrhoid
1. Consume more fruit and vegetables, you need more diet fiber
2. stop drinking alcohol, coffee or smoke
3. don’t do any heavy exercise
4. drink lot’s of water each day a least 2 Liter.
